Headstand is one of popular yoga movements which may become a goal for some practitioners. I've heard that headstands help to stimulate brain functions and blood circulation for the body, but at times I wonder if those benefits are worth the risk of injury to the neck or back.
All exercise has its own risks. With headstand or handstand, the fear of falling is actually the biggest problem because we become more prone to mistakes if we overthink the situation. It's not advised for people with a heart or upper body problem. Otherwise, the usual safety precaution is to do proper warming up, lean against the wall, and have someone to assist the process to avoid any injury.
