How do you choose a cycling partner? was created by A Porter

Do you bike alone, but are looking for bike partners? Or have you found the perfect buddy to bike with? It’s nice to have a companion for bike riding, though finding the right partner is a challenging task.

What qualities make for a good bike partner? Do you have:

The same cycling philosophy?
Do you love to wander and explore, or push yourself for a challenge?

The same goals?
A training partner, or a buddy to join you for a tour? Your choice even to have a partner may depend on your goals and motivation.

The same routes?
A familiar face on local routes is always nice.

I'm laid back when it comes to riding and will happily fit in with whatever my cycling partner or group desires. I do look for someone who will understand that I'm a traveling nurse and won't be able to commit to a set schedule too far in advance. It's a deal breaker for some, which I understand.

I didn't think about a partner to avoid distraction. Delaying my plans to wait for others often end up in canceling the plan completely. The partner may also be unable to catch up to my target. The whole process becomes less effective. If you can meet some people with similar commitment, I guess it can be fun.
